
Tracee Ellis Ross and the academic Michaela Angela Davis host the new series “The Hair Tales” (OWN, 9 p.m.) in which they interview prominent Black women on their relationship with their hair. First off is no less than TV icon, series executive producer and network owner Oprah Winfrey. Issa Rae is subject at 10.
If they can do dancing why not magic? On the new series “Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars” (CW, 8 p.m.), the long-haired Vegas fixture teaches some of his illusions to a pair famous people, who compete each week, the best of which (as determined by a panel of judges) advance to the finale. The premiere has Corbin Bleu vs. Miles Brown.
It’s followed by two episodes into the the third season start for “World’s Funniest Animals” (CW, 9 p.m.), hosted by Elizabeth Stanton.
“We Wish You a Married Christmas” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) is a new, wildly premature holiday film about a couple who take their marriage coach’s advice and travel to a small town to reconnect at Christmas.
Another new made-for-TV movie, “Swindler Seduction” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.), tells of conmen who make money by cheating women through romance, as told by some of the victims. Gabrielle Graham and Colton Haynes star.
Baseball playoffs have Houston at Yankees (TBS, 5 p.m.) in the American League Championship Series and San Diego at Philadelphia (Fox, 7:45 p.m.) in the National League.
