The first of a three-part investigation on America’s 20-year involvement in Afghanistan that ended up with Taliban rule begins on “Frontline” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings). Martin Smith reports. The other two episodes will air on April 11 and 25.

It follows a new “American Experience” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) about a chemical engineer and longtime sustainable energy advocate  Maria Telkes, known as the Sun Queen. 

It will be interesting to see, on this historic day, whether networks deign to broadcast the rantings of the indicted former president live tonight on programming such as “The Indictment of Donald Trump” (CNN, 8 p.m.).

A couple of Dick Wolf’s agency shows, “FBI: International” (CBS, 8 p.m.) and ”FBI” (CBS, 9 p.m.) combine for a big crossover episode about a case that spans two continents.

That’s not all from Dick Wolf. His true crime documentary series “Blood & Money” (CNBC, 10 p.m.) is also on tonight, with a story about a mother-and-son murder team. 

“Mo’Nique: My Name is Mo’Nique” (Netflix, streaming) is a new comedy special from the comedian Mo’Nique. 

Tamera Mowry-Housley and Billy Crudup learn about their past on the ninth season finale of “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).
