This week’s Leap Day had us jumping for appropriate songs to play. There weren’t many, though Big Bill Broonzy’s tune talked of a time when outdated gender roles switched. There were leaps from Billy Bragg and the Boss but also Leapy Lee. There were more songs about jumping — from Louis Prima to Kris Kross.

We celebrated the birthdays of Fats Domino, both this day in 1928 and Johnny Cash (1932), but also Paul Cotton of Poco (1943), Tex Avery (1908), Jackie Gleason (1916) and Betty Hutton (1921).

But also some  living artists — Erykah Badu, turning 54, and Corrine Bailey Rae (45) and Sandie Shaw (77).

Started by reliving some recent shows I saw, from Cat Power to Freedy Johnston and Steve Forbert

Here’s a link to the whole show; the setlist follows.
