Twenty years after the events of the Oscar winning 2002 Brazilian film “City of God,” a six-episode documentary series updates the story, starting with the release of a young trafficker jail and friction with the community in “City of God: The Fight Rages On” (HBO Latino, 8 p.m.; Max, streaming). 

“The First Slam Dunk” (Netflix, streaming), about a high school basketball team, is based on the manga by Takehiko Inoue, who wrote and directed the film which topped Japan’s box office last year.
