The 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth is certainly cause for celebration. What other figure made as big a cultural impact in the last century? She wasn’t known as a singer, though we had a couple numbers from her on Capital Radio amid songs that lauded her, from Tommy Keene and John Cale to The Kinks and Lana Del Rey.

She was also part of the packaging of The Rolling Stones’ “Some Girls,” which fit since we played a lot of Stones — partly because Sonny Rollins, who died a week ago at 95, played on some tracks, but also because it was Ronnie Wood’s 79th birthday.

Other birthdays were noted for Nelson Riddle, Pat Boone (turning 92!) and Linda Scott, turning 81, among others.

And there were a few tunes about the month of June.

It’s probably annoying enough to find these archived shows divided in three parts, due to capacity of the website. The fact that there are four this week is simply the result of a studio mistake. Sorry.
