Longtime political consultant James Carville is profiled in the documentary “Carville: Winning is Everything, Stupid” (CNN, 7 p.m.), whose title is borrowed from the Democratic political consultant’s famous advice during the 1992 Clinton campaign: It’s the Economy, Stupid. It follows an 18-month period in which Carville tried to persuade President Joe Biden not to run for re-election. There’s also a glimpse at his unusual marriage with his wife Mary Matalin, a Republican strategist. It’s from director Matt Tyrnauer, whose previous film asked “Where’s My Roy Cohn?”
It’s followed by a new episode of the topical comedy show “Have I Got News for You” (CNN, 9 p.m.).

Martin Scorsese selects and discusses two films on Turner Classic Movies tonight, “Blood on the Moon” (8 p.m.) and “One Touch of Venus” (9:45 p.m.). The 12 o’clock noir is “Detour” (midnight); then comes a pair of films from the 80s, “The Killing Fields” (1:30 a.m.) and “Withnail & I” (4 a.m.). The midday musical is “Gilda Live” (noon).
