A handful of takeaways from Saturday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction brought tracks from the MC5, Cher and Big Mama Thornton, among others. Then it was time to celebrate the birthdays of Steve Cropper, turning 83 today; Elvin Bishop, 82; Manfred Mann, 84; Faces bassist Tetsu Yamauchi, 78; Ron Elliott of the Beau Brummels, 81; Julian Cope, 67; and Charlotte Coffey of the Go-Go’s, 71; as well as Dizzy Gillespie, born this day in 1917; Lux Interior (1948), and producer Owen Bradley (1915). The big one was Charles Ives’ 150th – celebrated Sunday. But we also paused to remember singer/songwriter Libby Titus, who died Oct. 13 at 77.

Then it was all about the witches in song with nearly two dozen selections. And some selections from notable local shows in the past week from Air, Moontype, Nick Lowe, The Magnetic Fields and Billy Bragg.

Unfortunately the last hour of the show seems to have broken off the recording so you get the first part and half of the witches at this link. Someone may have cast a spell on it. Enjoy what you can.

I guess the lesson is to listen live. The intended setlist follows.
