The documentary “Endurance” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) follows the achievements of Irish explorer Sir Ernest Shackelton who led three expeditions to the Antarctic in the early 20th century. One one of them, he kept his 27-member crew alive for a year despite losing their ship, the Endurance. The film includes newly restored footage from the ship taken in 1914 and 1915, as well as efforts of trying to find shipwreck in 2022. 

A new documentary looks at the man whose movie themes are embedded in your skull and has won a record 54 Oscar nominations and five wins. “Music by John Williams” (Disney+, streaming) looks at his work for franchises like “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” and his concert touring.

Greta Gerwig had nothing to do with the animated “Barbie Mysteries: The Great Horse Chase” (Netflix, streaming).

When the Spanish soccer official Luis Rubiales celebrated Spain’s win in the World Women’s World Cup by kissing a star player, it resulted in a scandal that tarnished the win. The making of the contemporary opera about the California gold rush, “Girls of the Golden West” by John Adams and Peter Sellars is the subject on “Great Performances” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings). Without music, there’s always “Gold Rush” (Discovery, 8 p.m.). 

The legacy of the creepy doll character introduced in “Child’s Play” is covered a day after Halloween in the “Doc of Chucky” (Shudder, streaming). 

From Sweden comes the drama “Let Go” (Netflix, streaming) about a mother who goes to extremes to bring her family closer together.

Bobbie asks Isabella to move in with her on “Happy’s Place” (NBC, 8 p.m.).

“Belle Collective” (OWN, 8 p.m.), the saga of women in Mississippi, returns for a third season. 

“A Carol for Two” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) is the latest in what’s sure to be an onslaught of holiday romances, this one set in Broadway starring Gina Claire Mason. 

Stephen Tobolowsky and Vicki Lawrence guest star as Quinten’s parents on a new “Lopez vs. Lopez” (NBC, 8:30 p.m.).

On “Fire Country” (CBS, 9 p.m.), Bode and Gabriela reveal a long-held secret. 

Freeform makes use of being part of the Disney world by showing their classic animated features throughout this month, beginning with “Finding Dory” (Freeform, 6:25 p.m.) and “Coco” (Freeform, 8:30 p.m.). 

“Joan” (CW, 9 p.m.) masterminds an inside man heist. 

A revelation changes things for “Sweetpea” (Starz, 8 p.m.). 

“Spooked Ireland” (Travel, 10 p.m.) goes to the jail in Wicklow. 

Maggie comes to terms with loss on “Three Women” (Starz, 10 p.m.). 

“Scare Tactics” (USA, 10 p.m.) has zombies crash a conference. 

Turner Classic Movies’ Friday night series of political films continues at least until the election. Tonight, it’s “Being There” (8 p.m.), “The Candidate” “Harlan County, U.S.A.” (10:30 p.m.), “The Manchurian Candidate” (2:30 a.m.) and “Weekend” (4:45 a.m.).
