On the new three-part series “Lucy Worsley’s Holmes vs. Doyle” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings), the British historian and host dives into the origins of Sherlock Holmes in the early days of then-medical student Arthur Conan Doyle in Edinburgh, who might not have devised his detective had he stayed this disenchanted with him.
