Here are links to some of the theater reviews I’ve done so far this year for Broadway World:
- A first rate “Uncle Vanya” starring Hugh Bonneville and John Benjamin Hickey, pictured above, at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
- A spirited revival of the glam rock classic “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” at Signature Theatre.
- Amy Brenneman in Arena Stage’s would-be farce “Fake It Until You Make It.”
- The Flint water crisis, told through three generations of a family, Mosaic Theater’s “Cullud Wattah.”
- A rock musical adopted from Mikhail Bulgakov’s celebrated novel, “Professor Woland’s Black Magic Rock Show” at Spooky Action Theater.
- A story about a pair of sanitation workers, “The Garbologists” at Theater Alliance.
- A mystery from the Victorian Ladies’ Detectives, “Escape from the Asylum” at Washington Stage Guild.
- “Who Cares: The Caregiver Interview Project,” a new theatrical piece at Voices Festival Productions.
- A drama set in a sex offenders’ group home, “Downstate,” at Studio Theatre.
