The new documentary “Marty, Life is Short” (Netflix, streaming) tells the story of the singular Canadian comic Martin Short, who made his mark on “SCTV” and briefly “SNL” before moving to string of movies, most of which were flopped or forgotten. Still, he kept his manic creativity in characters like Jiminy Glick and his current role in “Only Murders in the Building.” 

Shot by longtime friend Lawrence Kasdan, a lot of it has the feel of a home movie, especially with all of the footage of the family at leisure and on vacation. But it’s worth it when it comes to a parody of the end of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” as played by Ed Grimley with Tom Hanks’ Forest Gump and shot by Steven Spielberg. It stops short of any rumored current romance with Meryl Streep. 

The story of the flamboyant fitness guru who suddenly disappeared from sight for a decade before his death two years ago is told on “The Mystery of Richard Simmons: A Diane Sawyer Special” (ABC, 9 p.m.) that includes interviews with those closest to him. 

The new five-part sports documentary “U.S. Against the World: Four Years with the Men’s National Soccer Team” (HBO, 9 p.m.) follows the U.S. players as they approach this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Another soccer documentary “Untold UK: Jamie Vardy” (Netflix, streaming) profiles the Premier League soccer star. 

A second season comes for the adult animated action series “Devil May Cry” (Netflix, streaming), based on the Japanese video game franchise about the demonic invasion of earth. 

A timely report on “Frontline” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) explores the challenges of the Federal Reserve at a time of change and under the watch of a meddling overbearing President. 

A new series “Squatters” (A&E, 10 p.m.), adapted from YouTube series, follows a guy named Flash Shelton, who prides himself on extracting squatters from abandoned properties, apparently treating them like gators in “Swamp People.” 

Ted Allen hosts the new series “Chopped Castaways” (Food, 9 p.m.), which combines the culinary competition of “Chopped” with the survival tests of a remote island. 

A new explosion hints at a conspiracy in the 23rd season finale of “NCIS” (CBS, 8 p.m.); “NCIS: Sydney” (CBS, 9 p.m.) ends its third season with a pair of episodes, starting with a dead FBI agent in Fiji. 

The weakest connections are weeded out on “Farmer Wants a Wife” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

“Bear Grylls is Running Wild” (Fox, 9 p.m.) takes Uma Thurman to a national park in Wales. 

Lisa Ann Walter, Katie Nolan and Mina Kimes play “Celebrity Jeopardy!” (ABC, 8 p.m.). 

“Summer Place” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) has the final party of the season. 

The campgrounds become a battleground on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” (MTV, 8 p.m.). 

“Homestead Rescue” (Discovery, 8 p.m.) begins its 14th season helping a couple’s retreat in California’s fire country. 

Concealed military missions are recalled on the second season finale of “Secrets Declassified with David Duchovny” (History, 10 p.m.). 

“7 Little Johnstons” (TLC, 9 p.m.) finally get to Liz and Brice’s wedding. 

The month-long Tuesday night spotlight on the films of director Yasujirō Ozo continues with “Late Spring” (8 p.m.), “Early Summer” (10 p.m.), “Tokyo Story” (12:15 a.m.), “What Did the Lady Forget?” (2:45 a.m.) and “Brothers and Sisters of the Today Family” (4 a.m.).
