We played the lion’s share of music added this year to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, ranging from Spike Jones to Weezer, with Ray Charles, Ruth Brown and the Go-Go’s included.
But we started this week’s edition of Capital Radio by paying homage to the recently passed: Claudine Longet, Clarence Carter, Earl-Jean McRaae of The Cookies, producer Jack Douglas, Dennis Locorriere of Dr. Hook and Zappa sideman Ike Willis.
May 18 was the birthday of Big Joe Turner and Omar Khayyam; Rick Wakeman was turning 77; Mark Mothersbaugh, 76; Wreckless Eric, 72.
We gave them all a salute.
