After nearly 20 years, the R&B group Jodeci reunites for the Soul Train Awards (BET, 8 p.m.) with a little “Freek’n You.” The event, hosted by Wendy Williams also features performances from Chris Brown, Tamar Braxton, Tank, Nico & Vinz, Kem, Stephanie Mills, Missy Elliot, Lil’ Kim and Da Brat, Aloe Blacc and Tinashe.
Kool & the Gang will be also honored for 50 years in the business. Chris Brown led all nominations with seven, followed by Beyonce and Pharrell Williams with six and five respectively. The event was taped Nov. 7 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Also, it’s not the only awards show on tonight. The Nickelodeon Halo Awards (Nickelodeon, 7 p.m.) honors teenagers doing outstanding public service. Also, there will be time for performances by Nick Jonas, Jessie J, the Roots, Meghan Trainor, the Vamps, Echosmith and Fifth Harmony.
“Downton Abbey” doesn’t return until Jan. 7, but they’re already counting down on the PBS ratings leader with a sneak peek and summary of past seasons on “Masterpiece” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).

With parenting issues in New York, Noah goes back to Montauk on “The Affair” (Showtime, 10 p.m.), where their stories are more different than ever. It caps a marathon of the season’s episodes that begins at 4 p.m. (which also means there is no “Homeland” this week).
Things are moving briskly on the final season of “The Newsroom” (HBO, 9 p.m.) and two big things happen today.
A very funny episode of “Getting On” (HBO, 10:30 p.m.) is leavened with a couple of poignant moments.
