A second season somehow starts for Halle Berry and “Extant” (CBS, 10 p.m.), the bar for success seemingly much lower in the summer than the rest of the year. “Extant,” if you don’t recall, is the science fiction show about the ability to create robot sons. Last we saw her she was in a psychiatric hospital. So the first thing she has to do is break out. Then she meets Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who helps her investigate the kind of deaths she witnessed in space.
The unusual “Monster in My Family” (Lifetime Movie Network, 9 p.m.) features the daughter of the person known as the Happy Face Killer who spends her life now trying to find closure between other families of serial killers and their victims’ families.
In the new “Operation Wild” (PBS, 8 p.m.), teams of veterinarians try to save injured animals all over the world with innovative new treatments, starting with pandas and young gorillas.
“Flipping Out” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) starts a new season with a slimmed down new company for Jeff Lewis, since he fired a lot of his former employees.
