Started out a longer than usual Friday Night Rock tonight with an hour of mostly Stax music before moving into a bunch of music of artists who generally were either coming to the area or having a birthday.
That included Freedy Johnston (who’s coming to the area Tuesday) and Bob Johnston (the legendary Nashville producer who died last month), both Johnstons with a “t.”
We had a taste of Madonna (who’s coming to town Saturday) and a good deal of Moby (who had a birthday today). There was music by the Mekons (whose Jon Langford was also celebrating another year) and Death Cab for Cutie (playing the Meriweather Post Pavilion Saturday).
