Blige, The Band Perry, Pentatonic, Carly Rae Jepsen and the Rockettes all performing before they flick the switch on the 78-foot Norway spruce.
We already know the five acts chosen as “CMT Artists of the Year” (CMT, 8 p.m.): Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt will all be honored in the event from Nashville, where Kenny Rogers and Chris Stapleton will also win special awards as will the TV series “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.).
Rev. Run of Run-DMC has long since stopped being “King of Rock” and on his latest reality show, travels to different destinations on “Rev. Runs Around the World” (Travel, 10 p.m.).
The midseason finale of “Empire” (Fox, 9 p.m.) includes the return of Naomi Campbell and a concert at Cookie’s old prison.
Another new online offering, “Rocket Jump: The Show” (Hulu, streaming), looks behind the scenes at the effects-heavy (and gun-heavy) YouTube action clips replicating video games that a young team has been producing.

A new season of “Top Chef” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) returns to California with what they are touting as their most talented contestants yet.

Frank Sinatra is the star of the month on Turner Classic Movies, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. It begins with the classic 1965 TV special “Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music” (8 p.m.) and continues with his roles in the musicals “Guys and Dolls” (9 p.m.), “Pal Joey” (11:45 p.m.) and “Can-Can” (1:45 a.m.) followed by the comedy “Marriage on the Rocks” (4:15 a.m.).
