She had something of a following as a minor cable TV star, but not since she married Prince Harry will Meghan Markel have a bigger audience than tonight, when she sits for an interview with Oprah Winfrey — a TV event that’s already been expanded to two hours. “Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special” (CBS, 8 p.m.) will also get a handsome lead-in from a new “60 Minutes” (CBS, 7 p.m.).
The Critics Choice Awards (CW, 8 p.m.) is the only awards show on TV this season I got a chance to help nominate and vote for. “Ozark” and “The Crown” lead the TV pack with six nominations each; in movies, “Mank” has 12 nominations, but that debuted on TV too (well, Netflix). Taye Diggs hosts; of course will be virtually presented (test the Zoom connections now).
Max Irons takes the title role in the new spy series “Condor” (Epic, 10 p.m.), based on the 1975 film “Three Days of the Condor.”
A fourth season starts for “Good Girls” (NBC, 10 p.m.), with the Secret Service closing in on the counterfeit ring run by three suburban women.
Yale investigators botched their report in the child abuse case, according to the third installment of “Allen v Farrow” (HBO, 9 p.m.). Woody Allen’s only input in the series so far has been through audio excerpts from his memoir “Apropos of Nothing.” Now its publisher has said permission was never granted for its use and is threatening a lawsuit.
“Vice” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) returns for a new season.
