Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer and Ben Schwartz head the cast of the new series “The Afterparty” (Apple TV+, streaming), a murder mystery played for laughs, set at a 15-year high school reunion is from the team behind “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “The Lego Movie.” Haddish plays a detective who hears the story of each suspect in the death of the pop star host episode by episode.
Another dark comedy surrounding with a murder mystery at its core is “The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window” (Netflix, streaming), which from its title would indicate a deeper parody of the form. Kristin Bell stars in the series as a wine-addled woman obsessed with a new neighbor and his daughter. She drops a lot of casserole dishes.
