Set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” the new “House of the Dragon” (HBO, 9 p.m.), chronicles the early days of the overly-blonde, dragon-handling Targaryens. As such there’s a whole new cast (except maybe the dragons) with Matt Smith, Milly Alcock, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke. And while it seems like an exercise in recreating the huge success of the original series, it’s actually based on George R.R. Martin’s novel “Fire and Blood.”
The new “Ghosts of Devil’s Perch” (Travel, 9 p.m.) is not a travel show, but a ghost story about spirits in the old mines of Butte, Montana.
“United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell” (CNN, 10 p.m.) ends its seventh season with a visit to Hawaii. Also ending their seasons tonight: “I Love a Mama’s Boy” (TLC, 10 p.m.) and “Flatbush Misdemeanors” (Showtime, 10:35 p.m.).
The third of four episodes of “My Life as a Rolling Stone” (Epix, 9 p.m.) features Ron Wood, who joined the band 12 years into their career, the third guitarist in that slot.
“Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) is split into two separte games – with two heads of households named tonight and two sets of evictee nominations.
Yvette Nicole Brown, Pete Holmes, Jo Key and a guy from Boyz II Men play “The $100,000 Pyramid” (ABC, 9 p.m.). The casts of “Shark Tank” is up against the cast of “The Talk” and it’s Natasha Leggero vs. Lauren Ash on “Celebrity Family Feud” (ABC, 8 p.m.). Other game shows tonight include “The Final Straw” (ABC, 10 p.m.).
