Steve Carell has done some serious dramatic roles over the years, but maybe none so dark as the one in “The Patient” (Hulu, streaming), portraying a therapist whose most troublesome patient (Domhnall Gleeson) claims to be a serial killer. He wants undivided attention, so kidnaps the therapist right off the bat. The intense series is the first from Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg since “The Americans” and further distinguishes itself by having half hour episodes. 

The latest chapter in the sports documentary series “Untold” (Netflix, streaming) concerns the NBA ref who systematically bet on games he was working.

The two-night documentary series “Keep This Between Us” (Freeform, 9 p.m.), about teachers grooming students, concludes with a pair of episodes.

“Rise of the Bolsonaros” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) is a two hour documentary on Brazil’s right wing president and his family’s ascendence to power.
