As the 50th anniversary of hip-hop approaches, here’s a four-part documentary series on the role of women, who have been there since the beginning. It’s fun to see early pioneers like MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante and Queen Latifah on “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop” (Netflix, streaming), alongside contemporary female rappers, although their analysis isn’t always the most acute.

The animated “Strange Planet” (Apple TV+, streaming) features the amusing blue alien beings in Nathan W. Pyle’s webcomic and graphic novel.

The new super-meta musical series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” (Disney+, streaming) has the kids putting on a stage version of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” as graduation approaches, and “High School Musical 4: The Reunion” filming at the school.

On the creepy-sounding “Superfan” (CBS, 9 p.m.) various celebrities get to choose who could truthfully be called their greatest fan. It begins with LL Cool J.

The season’s first veto competition occurs on “Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.)

“LA Fire & Rescue” (NBC, 8 p.m.) responds to a car crash off a cliff on the first season finale.

The four remaining contestants have to integrate dishes with circus acts on “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” (Fox, 9 p.m.), where Wayne Newton is guest judge.

“Human Footprint” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) ends its run with a history of cotton.
