File under the shows nobody asked for: the unexpected return of “Fraiser” (Paramount+, streaming). Already the longest running TV character, on “Cheers” for nine years, then on his own show for 11, it’s been almost 20 years since since Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane has been a series. By now, he’s moved from Seattle to Boston where he bounces jokes for his son (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Peri Gilpin and Bebe Neuwirth are said to be among the few returning cast members. But Jimmy Burrows is directing the sitcom in front of a live audience, just like the whole days.

Edgar Allen Poe gets a twist and an update in a new series version of “The Fall of the House of Usher” (Netflix, streaming) from Mike Flanagan, whose past work includes “”Midnight Mass” and “The Haunting of Hill House.” Here, the story is told from within an indefensible rich family like one behind the opioid crisis. Carla Gugino plays an avenging angel; Bruce Greenwood the patriarch telling the tale. Crazy casting has Mark Hamill as an eccentric defense attorney; and Henry Thomas (once the kid in “E.T.”) as one of the doomed siblings. By the second episode, they’re trying to move to the ick levels of “Euphoria” or “The Idol,” peopled with similarly unlikeable characters.

Speaking of unlikeable characters, they’ve created a reality TV “House of Villains” (E!, 10 p.m.) in a competition that range from the barely memorable Jonny Fairplay of “Survivor,” Corrine of “The Bachelor” and Tiffany “New York” Pollard to the grandmother of all TV villains (turned Trump White House official), Omarosa. Ten of them vie for a $200,000 prize, because frankly they need the money. It’s simulcast on USA andBravo, where it follows an episode of “Southern Charm” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

The Canadian medical series “Transplant” (NBC, 9 p.m.) begins its third season.

Also from Canada is the six-episode drama “Little Bird” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings), about an indigenous girl who looks for her birth family. A behind-the-scenes look at how the series was made is provided by the special “Little Bird: Wanna Icipus Kupi (Coming Home)” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings).

“Good Night World” (Netflix, streaming) is an anime adaptation of manga about a family that doesn’t know they’re unwitting players in an online game.

The R&B singer who has appeared on “R&B Divas: Atlanta” and “Marriage Boot Camp” now gets her own series, following her life as an artist, wife mother and friend, “Keke Wyatt’s World” (WEtv, 9 p.m.).

Volcanoes are the assignment on “LEGO Masters” (Fox, 9 p.m.).

On “Big Brother” (CBS, 9 p.m.), Jag still has to announce whether he’ll use the veto before the live vote begins. It falls between “Buddy Games” (CBS, 8 p.m.) and “The Challenge: USA” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

Women have the power on “Bachelor in Paradise” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

“The Golden Bachelor” (ABC, 8 p.m.) now knows what a date card is.

The Vegas slugfest continues on “BattleBots” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

“Welcome to Rap City” (BET, 8 p.m.), the three-episode series recounting the history of the hip-hop show, wraps up before a replay of the “Hip Hop Awards 2023” (BET, 9 p.m.).

“Mountain Men” (History, 8 p.m.) prepare for Tom’s 80th birthday.

Just three remain on “Alone Australia” (History, 9:35 p.m.).

Jose Ferrer is star on Turner Classic Movies tonight, in “Cyrano de Bergerac” (8 p.m.), “I Accuse!” (10 p.m.), “Moulin Rouge” (11:45 p.m.), “Crisis” (2 a.m.) and “The High Cost of Loving” (4 a.m.). During the day are comedies set in heaven: “The Cockeyed Miracle” (6 a.m.), “The Horn Blows at Midnight” (7:30 a.m.), “Angel on My Shoulder” (9 a.m.), “I Married an Angel” (11 a.m.), “Forever, Darling” (12:30 p.m.), “Here Comes Mr. Jordan” (2:15 p.m.), “Oh, God!” (4 p.m.) and “Angels in the Outfield” (6 p.m.).

The remaining Major League Baseball divisional series to be determined is Atlanta at Philadelphia (TBS, 8 p.m.).

Thursday Night Football has Denver at Kansas City (Prime Video, 8:15 p.m.).

Hockey has Pittsburgh at Washington (Hulu, 7:30 p.m.).

College football includes West Virginia at Houston (Fox Sports 1, 7 p.m.), SMU at East Carolina (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.) and Fort Valley State at Benedict (ESPN2, 7:30 p.m.).

Preseason basketball includes Memphis at Atlanta (NBA, 7:30 p.m.) and Phoenix at Portland (NBA, 10 p.m.).
