Zach Cregger’s supernatural horror film “Weapons” (HBO, 8 p.m.) with Julia Garner (above), Amy Madigan and Josh Brolin, finds a good time to make its premium cable debut.
The Saturday before Halloween, of course, brings a lot of scary movies, from “Scream” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) and “Hotel Transylvania” (Freeform, 8 p.m.) to “Halloween” (AMC, 9:30 p.m.). But as for original films tonight, they concern a different holiday: “Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper!” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) is about a weatherman (Robert Buckley) reuniting with his high school crush (Kimberly Sustad). “A Royal Icing Christmas” (Great American Family, 8 p.m.) is about a princess who escapes to a New England town where she stumbles upon a baking contest and a romance. Ellise Roth and Callum Buckley star.
Game 2 of the World Series has Dodgers at Toronto (Fox, 8 p.m.) in primetime.
Its broadcast competition: college football, with Michigan at Michigan State (NBC, 7:30 p.m.) and Texas A&M at LSU (ABC, 7:30 p.m.). The day’s other games are listed below.
The title of the made-for-TV thriller “Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) tells you all about the plot. Garcelle Beauvais, Marci T. House and Sierra Sidwell star. It’s followed by a replay of last year’s “Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.).
A killer explains why he murdered an artist in her home decades earlier on “48 Hours” (CBS, 10 p.m.).
“The Death Investigator with Barbara Butcher” (Oxygen, 9 p.m.) looks into the murder of a body found out int he desert.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel joins comedian Paula Poundstone on this week’s “Have I Got News For You” (CNN, 9 p.m.) with Amber Ruffin, Michael Ian Black and Roy Wood Jr.
A daughter learns her father’s secret at a young age on “Unlocked: Family Secrets” (OWN, 8 p.m.).
“Inside Airport Lost & Found” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) is a headphone case with $1,200 in it.
No surprise that the episodes of “Dangerously Obese” (TLC, 8 p.m.) are oversized as well.
Svengoolie has both “The Fly” (MeTV, 8 p.m.) and “Return of the Fly” (MeTV, 10:30 p.m.).
Turner Classic Movies replays its night of picks from Paul Giamatti, possibly because they fit in with the night’s other horror, with “Carnival of Souls” (8 p.m.) and “Rosemary’s Baby” (9:30 p.m.). The 12 o’clock noir is “Southside 1-1000” (midnight), followed by three Miss Marple mysteries, “Murder She Said” (1:45 a.m.), “Murder Most Foul” (3:15 a.m.) and “Murder Ahoy” (5 a.m.). The midday musical is “The Tales of Hoffman” (noon).
Hockey has Colorado at Boston (NHL, 3 p.m.) and Montreal at Vancouver (NHL, 7 p.m.).
