The second and final season of the adaptation of Laura Esquivel’s “Like Water for Chocolate” (HBO Max, streaming) premieres with Tina finding promise in Dr. Brown but threatened by the return of Pedro.

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game (NBC, 5 p.m.) is no longer an East vs. West affair, but a completely different format , with the USA vs. the World in a round-robin tournament of three teams across four 12-minute games. Two teams will be made up of players from the U.S., the third will have international athletes (all are still in the NBA). The game will be played at the home of the Clippers, the Intuit Dome. 

By airing it for the first time since 2002, it also means that it conflicts with its coverage of the Winter Olympics. So, like Saturday’s events, it starts unusually early to make room for Primetime in Milan (8 p.m.) and its roundup of the day’s events.

“Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” (HBO, 11:20 p.m.) begins its 13th season with a report on the ICE shootings in Minneapolis. 

The 37th season finale of “The Simpsons” (Fox, 8 p.m.) is also its 800th episode, in which Homer prepares for another milestone, the 250th anniversary of the country.

Similarly, the 24th season premiere of “Family Guy” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.) is also its 450th episode. 

“A Town Hall with Governor Wes Moore” (CBS, 8 p.m.) puts the Maryland governor in the spotlight, answering questions of state residents and moderator Norah O’Donnell, under the weird banner of “CBS News Things That Matter.” 

A fourth season comes for the drama “Dark Winds” (AMC, 9 p.m.), on which a missing Navajo girl is sought in 1970s Los Angeles. It also runs on BBC America and Sundance. 

Season finales come for a couple of “Masterpiece” mysteries. The eighth season of “Miss Scarlet” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) ends with the need to solve the death of a foreign ambassador. “Bookish” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) ends its inaugural season by solving he a mystery at the Royal House of Scutari. 

 “Tournament of Champions VII” (Food, 8 p.m.) convenes with qualifier rounds for 16 chefs in eight matchups. 

It’s VJ Day on “All Creatures Great and Small” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).

It’s the eighth season for the anthology “American Pickers: Best Of” (History, 10 p.m.). 

“The Real Housewives of Potomac” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) begin the reunion episodes, entirely in red gowns, discussing its 10th season and in particular Wendy’s release from prison. 

A classification for food substances is questioned on “60 Minutes” (CBS, 6 p.m.). 

One of the “Universal Basic Guys” (Fox, 9 p.m.) learns to ride a bike. 

The girls’ trip continues with a sunset cruise on “Married to Medicine” (Bravo, 9 p.m.). 

“Naked and Afraid” (Discovery, 8 p.m.) begins a 19th season deep in Florida’s Everglades. 

A second season comes for the reality series “Filthy Fortunes” (Discovery, 10 p.m.) in which Matt Paxton looks for treasures in people’s cluttered and sometimes filthy homes. 

Three mothers become entangled in a world of suspicion when a game turns deadly in the made-for-TV thriller “To Catch a Cheater” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.). 

Makes sense that the new renovation series “Mini Reni” (HGTV, 9 p.m.) is only a half-hour long. 

A business proposition brings people together on “When Calls the Heart” (Hallmark,, 8 p.m.). 

“Confessions of an Answering Machine” (Investigation Discovery, 9 p.m.) is the inviting title of another true crime series. 

A friendship with an odd next door neighbor is struck on “Coldwater” (Paramount, 9 p.m.). 

“Air Disasters” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.) revisits the Saudia Flight 163 crash in 1980 that killed 287 passengers and 14 crew members. 

Turner Classic Movies’ 31 Days of Oscar has crime stories all day with “Little Caesar” (7 a.m.), “The Letter” (8:30 a.m.), “Key Largo” (10:15 a.m.), “Double Indemnity” (noon), “Strangers on a Train” (2 p.m.), “Rear Window” (4 p.m.), “Bonnie and Clyde” (6 p.m.), “White Heat” (8 p.m.), “In Cold Blood” (10 p.m.), “Dog Day Afternoon” (12:30 a.m.), “Shaft” (2:45 a.m.) and “The Window” (4:45 a.m.).
