The smart British mystery drama “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” (Netflix, streaming) returns for a second season, dealing with the fallout of the case that dominated the first season. The trial is still coming up, though, a podcast about the case has been completed by Emma Myers’ central character Pip. And there are new worries with a witness suddenly disappears. 

From Italy comes the new animated comedy “My 2 Cents” (Netflix, streaming), extending the world of the shows “Tear Along the Dotted Line” and “This World Can’t Tear Me Down.” This one is about Wild Boar, who lands himself in trouble with organized crime and the friends who rally to help him. 

The Scripps National Spelling Bee (ION, 8 p.m.) has its semi-finals at the DAR Constitution Hall in D.C.

“MasterChef” (Fox, 8 p.m.) has its first team challenge, serving lunch to soccer players.

Hunter seeks personal vengeance on “Tyler Perry’s The Oval’ (BET, 9 p.m.).

“The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire” (History, 8 p.m.) is a two-part, two-night special. So I suppose tonight is about the rise. 

A mysterious city in the mountains of China’s Sichuan Province, now for its bronze, is explored on “Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings). 

A second season ends for the Irish-Canadian drama with Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley, “Sisters” (IFC, 11 p.m.). 

“Brilliant Minds” (NBC, 8 p.m.) returns after a long break, the the story of a party girl on the run. 

Randy has some selfish plans on “Carl Weber’s The Family Business” (BET, 10 p.m.). 

“Southern Hospitality” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) throws a Mardi Gras party. 

Lala serves divorce papers to Jesse on “The Valley” (Bravo, 8 p.m.).

“The Girl Who Survived: The Alina Thompson Story” (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.) is about a 15-year-old aspiring model who goes to the wrong photographer’s casting call. 

The King of Pirates and Pharaoh Ramesses III are among the legends explored on “Expedition Files” (Discovery, 9 p.m.). 

“Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch” (Discover, 10 p.m.) returns for its sixth season, with the hunt for Aztec gold handed off to a new treasure hunter.

“Southern Law” (A&E, 10 p.m.) goes after drunks and couples fooling around. 

Turner Classic Movies spotlights actress Eileen Heckart today with “Butterflies Are Free” (8 p.m.).”The Bad Seed” (10 p.m.), “Up the Down Staircase” (12:15 a.m.), “Zandy’s Bride” (2:30 a.m.) and “Somebody Up There Likes Me” (4:15 a.m.).
