Like the cosmological event for which it was named “the Big Bang Theory” has produced many shards of spin-offs. The latest concerns one of its most minor characters, comic book store owner Stuart Bloom who goes on a wild adventure in “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” (HBO Max, streaming), trying to right things after he accidentally stumbles into a multiverse where there are alternate versions of characters from the mother show. Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus and John Ross Bowie also star.
In the second such show he began this week, the overexposed chef spies on restaurants and encourage change in the new “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service” (Food, 9 p.m.). His first assignment is right here in northwest D.C. – the Greek restaurant Parthenon.
It’s preceded by a new show with a similar aim, “Restaurant Impossible: Last Call” (Food, 8 p.m.) in which the fixers are chef Aaron Sanchez and restauranteur Jen Agg.
ICE agents still don’t have body cams, but in a Georgia prison we have “Behind Bars: Officer Cam” (A&E, 9 p.m.), a new show in which a show is composed from their chest units (are guards credited as cameramen?).
“Project Runway” (Freeform, 10 p.m.) tries to get inspiration from the NFL of all places.
An elephant leads her herd to water on “Surviving Earth” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
“The Americas” (NBC, 9 p.m.) explores the West Coast.
The men’s and women’s USA Hockey teams compete on “Celebrity Family Feud” (ABC, 8 p.m.).
“Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) has its second live eviction and begins to compete for the next head of household.
Looks like it will be a long night on “The Bear” (FX, 9 p.m.).
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) try to repair friendships.
Jenni has a pickleball party on “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” (MTV, 8 p.m.).
“Secrets Declassified with David Duchovny” (History, 9 p.m.) looks into hidden military bases.
Greek Night fallout continues on “Little Singles” (TLC, 9 p.m.).
“Ancient Aliens” (History, 10 p.m.) pokes around the Amazon rainforest.
Santorini and the Trojan War are subjects on two episodes of “Lost Treasures of Ancient Greece” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.).
The origins of Burning Man are explored on “The Man Will Burn” (HBO, 9 p.m.).
The second half of a John Carpenter salute on Turner Classic Movies concludes with “The Curse of Frankenstein” (8 p.m.), “The Mummy” (9:30 p.m.) and “Curse of the Demon” (11:15 p.m.). Then things turn to Val Lewton with “Cat People” (1 a.m.), “The Curse of the Cat People” (2:15 a.m.), “Isle of the Dead” (3:30 a.m.) and “Bedlam” (4:45 a.m.).
During the day it’s the man/monster conundrum with “Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde” (6 a.m.), “The Picture of Dorian Gray” (8 a.m.), “Kongo” (10 a.m.), “Phantom of the Rue Morgue” (11:30 a.m.), “Freaks” (1 p.m.), “The Leopard Man” (2:15 p.m.), “The Seventh Victim” (3:30 p.m.), “The Mad Genius” (5 p.m.) and “Mad Love” (6:30 p.m.).
