Beach Week came with sunny skies and a whole lot of heat (80 degrees at midnight?). But it also came with 30 songs of beach, surf and sand from Annette Funicello to to the Ramones in a prerecorded Capital Radio.
It was also the 68th birthday of Belinda Carlile, the 60th for Jill Cunniff of Luscious Jackson, the 57th for Kelvin Mercer or Poisonous of De La Soul, the 71st for Colin Moulding of XTC, the 73rd for Kevin Rowland of Dexy’s Midnight Runners, the 32nd for Phoebe Bridgers, the 62nd for Maria McKee of Lone Justice and the 72nd for guitarist Eric Johnson (whose track was cut short last week). Folkie Dave Ray of Koerner, Ray and Glover was also born this day in 1943.
Robert De Niro was also turning 83, and in lieu of a song from him, we had Bananarama.
Here’s the archived show (cut in three parts); the setlist follows.
