DickVanDyke_AP546037837469_620x350Dick Van Dyke will win a lifetime achievement award and one of the most interesting awards to TV and movies — for ensemble work — will mark The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (TBS, TNT, 8 p.m.) live from the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

“Lincoln,” “Les Miserables” and “Silver Linings Playbook” lead all films with four nominations each. Among TV shows, “Homeland, “Boardwalk Empire,” “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” all received multiple nominations. Reporting from the Red Carpet (E!, 6 p.m.) will be just as lengthy as the show.

Like most Hallmark movies, you know what’s going to happen in “The Makeover” (ABC, 9 p.m.) from the first minutes after it starts (and there’s probably some comfort in that). But because it’s a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie for a broadcast network, it means the cast is a little stronger, with Julia Stiles and David Walton as the leads in a Boston-set political romance that seems to have been actually shot in Massachusetts (whatever the wavering attention to the local accent).

An unlikeable politician, Stiles’ character vows to remake Walton’s beer distributor into a formidable candidate, “Pygmalian” style, though it’s clear she needs as much coaching as he does.  No, it’s not the Scott Brown story.

It’s a fairly eventful episode of “Downton Abbey” on “Masterpiece Classic” (PBS, 9 p.m.) is all I’ll say.

Early season high points come for both the lauded “Girls” (HBO, 9 p.m.) and the still-underrated “Enlightenment” (HBO, 9:30 p.m.). In the former, an assignment to report on a night on drugs turns into a madcap night for Hannah; on the latter, the focus falls entirely on Amy’s ex, Levi (Luke Wilson), and his adventures at rehab.

Sofia Vergara voices a character on a new “Family Guy” (Fox, 9 p.m.). Michael J. Fox returns to “The Good Wife” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

Fiona tries to get a job as a cashier on a new “Shameless” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).

I’m fascinated by the Steve Jones cameo in “Californication” (Showtime, 10:30 p.m.). The former Sex Pistol perfectly plays an English roadie at a rock star’s funeral. Earlier, Marty woos a casino king on “House of Lies” (Showtime, 10 p.m.).

Three early suspense films from Alfred Hitchcock run back to back: “The 39 Steps” (TCM, 8 p.m.), “The Lady Vanishes” (TCM, 9:30 p.m.) and “Sabotage” (TCM, 11:15 p.m.).

More substantial than either “Wicked Tuna” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) “Mudcats” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.) or “Catfish” (MTV, 10 p.m.) for that matter could be the two hour “Monster Squid: The Giant is Real” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

L.L. Cool J and Alana Thompson will likely be asked about performance enhancing drugs on a new “Oprah’s Next Chapter” (OWN, 9 p.m.).

Pat Robertson takes over all afternoon through prime time for a 700 Club Super Sunday Telethon (ABC Family, noon).

Therapy may be a mother-daughter thing on “Shahs of Sunset” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

New episode of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” (TLC, 9 p.m.).

NBA action includes Heat at Celtics (ABC, 1 p.m.), Thunder at Lakers (ABC, 4:30 p.m.) and Hawks at Knicks (ESPN, 6:30 p.m.).

In that lull before Super Bowl Weekend, there is always the conciliatory Pro Bowl (NBC, 7 p.m.) between the AFC and the NFC.

NBA action includes Miami at Boston (ABC, 1 p.m.), Oklahoma City at Los Angeles Lakers (ABC, 3:30 p.m.) and Atlanta at New York (ESPN, 6:30 p.m.).

Men’s college hoops includes Lafayette at Lehigh (CBS Sports, noon), Virginia Tech at Clemson (Fox, 1 p.m.), Michigan State at Indiana (CBS, 1 p.m.), Florida State at Miami (ESPNU, 6 p.m.) and Creighton at Southern Illinois (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).

Women’s basketball includes St. John’s at Louisville (ESPNU, 1:30 p.m.), North Carolina at Miami (ESPN2, 2 p.m.), Xavier at Richmond (CBS Sports, 2 p.m.), Missouri at Texas A&M (ESPNU, 3:30 p.m.), Purdue at Michigan State (ESPN2, 4 p.m.) and Fresno State at Colorado State (CBS Sports, 4 p.m.).
