amazingRaceTeams full of the best looking people usually don’t end up in the finale of “The Amazing Race” (CBS, 8 p.m.). But one team are the brother hockey players, Bates and Anthony Battaglia, which sort of makes sense — they’ve certainly finished first at the most pit stops – four — this season. But there are also the blonde country singers they have crushes on, Caroline Cutbirth, a descendent of Daniel Boone, and Jennifer Kuhle, grandaughter of John Wayne. Despite their impressive lineage, they seem to have been hanging on only because of their alliance with the brothers. Still, they’ve never finished first at a pit stop.

The third team in the alliance are the newlyweds Max and Katie Bichler, who have had their problems earlier in the race but seem to be surging lately, finishing first the past two weeks. Also, earlier in the season, the wife seemed like a grade A pill, but has lately softened her approach.

The fourth team still in it are the roller derby moms, Mona Egender and Beth Bandimere, who have showed some gumption in recent races, but will always be the ones U-turned by the others, as they were last week.

The race goes to Belfast, Northern Ireland first and then to Washington, D.C. where the final pit stop seems to be the Mt. Vernon, where the father of our country probably always dreamed he’d host the race winners.

Also reaching its season finale tonight, its first, is the generally ignored “Red Widow” (ABC, 10 p.m.) and the short miniseries “The Bletchley Circle” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings), in which Susan becomes a target. “The Mentalist” (CBS, 10 p.m.) presents its fifth season finale, still in pursuit of Red John (did he have a widow?).
