For those who think “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC, 9 p.m.) has gotten a little dull in its 10 seasons, the reality series “Scrubbing In” (MTV, 10 p.m.) jumps in, with a a lot of raucus party life emphasized as much as the contract work inside the hospital.
In fact, the trailer for the new series calls them “hell raisers,” “heartbreakers,” and “fun seekers.” as well as “life savers.” The good looking health care providers, five of whom know eachother from working in Pittsburgh, fly into Orange County, Cal., for some short time work that leaves them time to go poolside and drink. Four other nurses join the group and it’s a little like “The Real World” with real skills. It follows a night of another group of working lookers, “Big Tips Texas” (MTV, 7:30 p.m.).
Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s documentary film “Blackfish” (CNN, 9 p.m.) looks into the Sea World incident when a killer whale named Tilikum killed trainer Dawn Brancheau. Anything that pre-empts Piers Morgan is OK with me.
Rocco DiSpirito is not dispirited by having all his reality shows fail. Undaunted he returns with “Restaurant Divided” (Food Network, 10 p.m.), which appears to be another one of those fix-your-eaterie shows.
The new fall show “Welcome to the Family” didn’t get a very warm welcome. So it’s been yanked from the schedule, replaced now by a second “Parks and Recreation” (8 and 8:30 p.m.).
A new season of “Project Runway All Stars” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) begins. Since their challenge is punk fashion, their guest judge is Debbie Harry.
Now colonizing the late night with crudity, Comedy Central follows its new “@midnight” (Comedy Central, midnight) with “Adam Devine’s House Party” (Comedy Central, 12:30 p.m.) which is a standup showcase embedded in a drunken get together at the home of “The Workaholics” cast member.
If the games remain blowouts maybe the World Series games of St. Louis at Boston (Fox, 8 p.m.) won’t be such a fall classic after all. James Taylor is singing the National Anthem.
In college football, it’s Kentucky at Mississippi State (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.). In Canadian football, it’s Winnipeg at Toronto (ESPN2, 7:30 p.m.).
The month-long, 35-film Thursday night salute to Vincent Price on Turner Classic Movies continues with “House of Wax” (8 p.m.), “The Mad Magician” (9:45 p.m.), “House of Usher” (11 p.m.), “Diary of a Madman” (12:30 a.m.), “The Tingler” (2:15 a.m.), “House on Haunted Hill” (3:45 a.m.) and “The Bat” (5:15 a.m.).
