On a night when most dancers improved a little bit, Chaz Bono got another 17 for his quickstep, which was the low score for a week on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Not far ahead of him was Carson Kressley, who improved by one from last week’s score to 18 and David Arquette, who just stayed pat at 18.

New at the top of the leaderboard was Ricki Lake with 23. Just behind her was J.R. Martinez, holding steady at 22, and Kristin Cavallari, who jumped from 19 to 22.

Tied at 21 were Nancy Grace, who jumped from 16 last week and Elisabetta Canalis who jumped from 15. Rob Kardashian also jumped from 16 to 21, while Chynna Phillips was the one dancers whose score dropped from last week’s, slipping from 22 to 21.

Lodged in the middle of the pack was U.S. women’s soccer team goalie Hope Solo at 19.

In a season that is already reaching fewer viewers than past seasons, the show may have scared more away Monday through a wardrobe malfunction of Nancy Grace. Cameras had to turn to a shot of bored audience members while she adjusted her costume.

“On the European version that would be perfectly fine,” host Tom Bergeron said.

Judges gave her generally good scores, though Bruno Tonioli said “it was a bit top heavy at time…and I got an eyeful! I couldn’t miss that.”
