For all its hype and build-up Fox’s costly two hour “Terra Nova” premiere Monday only drew 9 million viewers. Not terra-ble (sorry) but certainly not was expected for what was planned to be a surefire blockbuster.
It fell against the CBS comedy lineup, led by the retooled “Two and Half Men” which was down by amore than a third from last week’s huge premiere, but still managed 20 million viewers, easily making it the most watched show of the night. Of the other CBS comedies, “Mike & Molly,” fresh off an Emmy win, did a season-high 14 million in its second season premiere.
But “2 Broke Girls,” a standout last week, dropped 37 percent, while the night-opening “How I Met Your Mother” drew 10.6 million.
On ABC, “Dancing with the Stars” drew 16 million – but that was its lowest-rated numbers for a performance show ever.
“The Playboy Club” presented itself as candidate for first fall season casualty with just 3.8 million viewers, dropping 19 percent from its lowly premiere last week. It was beat by “Castle” on ABC with 11.9 million and “Hawaii Five-0” on CBS with 11.1 million. “The Playboy Club” was part of a struggling NBC lineup that had the lowest numbers ever for “The Sing Off” with 4.4 million.
Of course the fifth season premiere of “Gossip Girl” on The CW only drew 1.4 million, while the new “Hart of Dixie” did worse, with just 1.8 million.
