In the end, the Super Bowl star beat the English soprano as Donald Driver became the fourth NFL star to win “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday.
It was a come from behind win.
It was a big win, too, for his professional dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd, who went out last year – her first season on the show – after World Peace, the former Ron Artest, went home in the first round.
Driver had been having trouble getting full acceptance from judges throughout the season, suffering low grades. He was high scorer only once this season before this week; his competition Katherine Jenkins finished first seven of the 10 weeks. She also scored three perfect 30s from judges in this week’s finale; Driver had two.
William Levy, who also was beating Driver in average scores from judges, finished third.
It was the second NFL star to win the competition after Emmit Smith.
