whitney18tvf-1-webThe Black History Month film “The Powerbroker” on “Independent Lens” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) makes the case for the non-angry man of the 60s, who accomplished Civil Rights strides by working with whites in the majority, to get more African-Americans integrated into the workplace at all levels, and advances in policy at the highest level.

Whitney Young Jr. earned respect among Presidents and CEOs when, as 10-year head of the Urban League he championed the Civil Rights cause within boardrooms instead of the street. This got him derision from other activists, but it made a difference, according to the dozens of sources interviewed for the film.

Judd Apatow and Tina Fey are featured on a new “Inside Comedy” (Showtime, 11 p.m.) with David Steinberg. The connecting thread seems to be that they both watched  “SCTV” in the days it came on after “SNL” while they were growing up.

Neil Patrick Harris can be heard tonight on both a new “Adventure Time” (Cartoon Network, 7:30 p.m.), alongside Donald Glover, in a gender-swapped episode in which Fin the boy and Jake the cat are replaced by Fionna the girl and Cake the cat. Then Harris is also on a new “How I Met Your Mother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) featuring Kyle MacLachlan.

The hometown visit episode of “The Bachelor” (ABC, 8 p.m.) is always a highlight, if only because it increases the possibility of him being punched in the face.

A Pro Bowl-themed episode of “Hawaii Five-0″ (CBS, 10 p.m.) includes as guest star  Arlan Foster of the Houston Texans.

 

“Fast N’ Loud” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) returns for a second season and Richard trades in his /58 Impala for a ’67 Mustang.

Andy Dick plays, what else?, an annoyance on “2 Broke Girls” (CBS, 9 p.m.). But this time he brings puppets.

Kim learns she has a life-changing allergy on “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami” (E!, 9 p.m.). To work? Ability? Talent? The letter K?

Boo’s in the middle of a love triangle on “Bunheads” (ABC Family, 9 p.m.).

Kidnapped Joey gets a chance to call his mom on a new episode of “The Following” (Fox, 9 p.m.).

When “Bizarre Foods America” (Travel, 9 p.m.) goes to Denver, you know there are going to be some Rocky Mountain Oysters.

There are three episodes of “Finding Bigfoot: Further Evidence” (Animal Planet, 8, 9 and 10 p.m.) by which they mean: No evidence at all.

“Teen Mom 2” (MTV, 10 p.m.) returns for its fourth season and Chelsea fears that she’s pregnant again. Do these girls learn nothing?

“La La’s Full Court Life” (VH1, 10 p.m.) returns with some old material — her TV hosting of Olympic games in London last summer while her husband Carmelo Anthony plays for Team USA.

“Catfish: The TV Show” (MTV, 11 p.m.) ends its first season with a higher profile thanks to similar victim Manti T’eo.

It’s celebrity week on “The Price is Right” (CBS, 11 a.m.). If you consider Nick Lachey a celebrity.

MGM Oscar bait from the 1970s and 80s is on Turner Classic Movies tonight with “Poltergeist” (8 p.m.), “Victor / Victoria” (10 p.m.), “The Goodbye Girl” (12:30 a.m.), “Fame” (2:30 a.m.) and “Pennies from Heaven” (5 a.m.).

In women’s basketball, it’s Norfolk State at Hampton (ESPNU, 4:30 p.m.), Kentucky at Texas A&M (ESPN2, 7 p.m.) and  Baylor at Connecticut (ESPN2, 9 p.m.).

In men’s games, it’s Notre Dame at Pittsburgh (ESPN, 7 p.m.), Norfolk State at Hampton (ESPUN, 7 p.m.), Hofstra at Drexel (NBC Sports, 7 p.m.), West Virginia at Kansas State (ESPN, 9 p.m.) and Rutgers at Villanova (ESPNU, 9 p.m.).
