AndiBachelor-02_612x380Why should men be the only one to decide who comes and goes on “The Bachelor”? Surely the women who are assembled for the show have their own feelings whether the person handing out roses is really right for them.

This season, two women have left the show on their own, quite late in the process.

Andi Dorfman, 26, an assistant district attorney from Atlanta, quit “The Bachelor” dramatically Tuesday as one of the final three –after a night in the Fantasy Suite in St. Lucia, when she learned that Juan Pablo Galavis wasn’t that interested in her life, didn’t ask her any pertinent questions and spoke of a previous night’s Fantasy Suite experience with a competitor.

Two weeks ago, Sharleen Joynt, 29, an opera singer from Ottawa, who got the first impression rose from Juan Pablo on the show’s premiere, quit because she was unsure of her feelings and didn’t want to deny another girl’s chance to be one of the four to go on hometown dates.

In the 18 seasons of “The Bachelor,” there has actually been no documented case of a woman ever saying no to the question, “Will you accept this rose?”

But there have been at least five other women who have said no thanks and bolted before it came time to articulate an answer about any floral gift.

Among them:

  • Katie Levans, then 27, a yoga instructor from Woodstock, Ill., felt anxiety after the first group date with Sean Lowe on the second week of season 17, had a meltdown and decided to leave in January, 2013.
  • Brittney Schreiner, 26, a medical sales rep from Colorado Springs, quit in season 16 after she was invited on a one on one with Ben Flajnik on week three. She crashed a group date to say she was uncertain of her feelings toward him and was quitting. Ben took Lindzi Cox on that date instead; she ended up being first runner up.
  • Madison Garton, 25, a model from Vail, who became known for wearing vampire fangs in her audition tape, quit during the rose ceremony on week three of season 17 in January, 2011 when she realized she really didn’t have many feelings for Brad Womack, and that other girls were too busy strategizing. She went on to appear in a number of TV shows in bit parts and was also in “The Wolf of Wall Street” as Heidi.
  • Ali Fedotowsky, 25, of Williamstown, Mass., quit after she made the final four of Jake Pavelka’s season 14 in February, 2010 and they had completed the hometown dates. Her employer, Facebook, told her she had to return to work or quit. With the career straightened out, she returned to become “The Bachelorette” that summer, ultimately choosing Roberto Martinez, though their engagement was broken after 18 months.
  • Lisa Gonzalez, 28, a public relations associate from Boise, quit during the second episode of Jason Mesnick’s season 13 in 2009 because of her grandmother’s ill health.

Hats off for knowing what you don’t want, ladies!
