Anthony Mackie hosts The 2021 ESPYS (ABC, 8 p.m.) live from New York City. Chris Nikic gets the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance. Maya Moore gets the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. Presenters include Robin Roberts, Kane Brown, DaBaby, Taye Diggs, Alexandra Daddario, Tracy Morgan, Zachary Levi and Desus and Mero.
It comes on a night when sports completely takes over the broadcast networks with Yankees at Houston (Fox, 7:15 p.m.) in baseball and auto racing’s Camping World SRX Series (CBS, 8 p.m.) at Slinger Speedway.
But the biggest event may be this morning the women’s final at Wimbledon (ESPN, 9 a.m.).
The award-winning “Judas and the Black Messiah” (HBO, 8 p.m.) with Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield, makes its premium cable debut. Also new tonight is the mixed martial arts film “Embattled” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) with Stephen Dorff and Karrueche Tran.
The first new Christmas movie of 2021 comes six months early with “Crashing Through the Snow” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.) with Amy Acker, Kristian Bruun, Brooke Nevin and Warren Christie. It’s part of the whole Christmas in July that also includes the films “Heart of the Holidays” (9 a.m.), “Christmas Comes Twice” (11 a.m.), “A Christmas Carousel” (1 p.m.), “A Nashville Christmas Card” (3 p.m.), “Christmas by Starlight” (5 p.m.) and “If I Only Had Christmas” (7 p.m.) and “One Royal Holiday” (11 p.m.).
