Monday TV: ‘Citizen Hearst’ vs. ‘Kane’

The life and times of William Randolph Hearst is told over two nights on a four hour “American Experience” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) that concludes Tuesday. Coincidentally, the film titled “Citizen Hearst” tonight plays opposite of the film that famously fictionalized his life: “Citizen Kane” (TCM, 8 p.m.).

“The Good Doctor” (ABC, 10 p.m.) resumes his rounds with the fifth season premiere, preparing an engagement party.

A citywide blackout and a record heatwave cause problems for “9-1-1” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

“The Voice” (NBC, 8 p.m.) continues its blind auditions. Can it be as entertaining as the fake reality talent competition on “The Big Leap” (Fox, 9 p.m.)?

The new series “Detective Diaries” (Investigation Discovery, 9 p.m.) has five different detectives look back at old cases.
