Wednesday TV: The Downside of Success

Gracie Marie Bradley plays a young woman who tries to keep her bearings as she’s offered a big recording contract in the new film “Beauty” (Netflix, streaming). Set in the 1980s, it’s from Lena Waithe, creator of “The Chi,” among other shows and also stars Niecy Nash, Giancarlo Esposito and Sharon Stone. 

The inflatable-looking character from “Hero 6” stars in his own limited series on “Baymax!” (Disney+, streaming). 

Tool Time returns in the new series “More Power” (History, 10 p.m.), in which onetime “Home Improvement” stars Tim Allen and Richard Kern demonstrate various contemporary tools. 

The documentary series “Pirate Gold of Adak Island” (Netflix, streaming) follows a team of treasure hunters seeking booty in Alaska.

A second season begins for the family sitcom “The Upshaws” (Netflix, streaming), co-created by Wanda Sykes and starring Mike Epps and Kim Fields as well as Sykes.

“Planet California” (PBS, 10 p.m.) shows the conclusion to the two-part Golden State wildlife series. 

Various personalities from “Jersey Shore” and its various international copies, “Geordie Shore” and “Rio Shore,” share a vacation home together in the new series “All Star Shore” (Paramount+, streaming), which also invites in people from “Love is Blind,” “Love Island,” “Bachelor in Paradise” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to boot.
