Began with echoes of the 50th anniversary of Big Star’s “#1 Record,” that was the occasion of a star-studded tour that just played town. 

Continued with some George Jones and Tammy Wynette, together and apart, to coincide with the current Showtime series about their up and down relationship. While actors Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain sing their own parts in the series, we listened to the originals.

Then it was time to salute the birthdays of Frank Sinatra and Dionne Warwick, before the waves of Christmas music swelled up like an unexpected snow squall. Songs of trees, of lights, of coming to terms with the arrival of the season; of hopes conjured up by the holiday; and many songs of Santa.

More than two hours of jingle bells ringing overtime; a prelude to even more next week
