Started with a bunch of songs from Christine McVie, who died last week at 79 — from her work in Fleetwood Mac, solo, under her name Christine Perfect and singing behind Bob Welch and Dennis Wilson.

Then it was an array of songs about December that weren’t necessarily about the holidays (which are harder to find than it sounds). Among them were Merle Haggard, the Waterboys, Teenage Fanclub, Danger Mouse, Matthew Sweet and Chet Baker.

Closed out with birthday salutes to lesser-known Motown songwriter and occasional singer Frank Wilson, bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson II, Little Richard, J.J. Cale, Don Robertson and Walt Disney, sort of.

Here’s the link to what I played on the radio today; the playlist follows.
