Equally celebrated and reviled in its time, disco music is enjoying a new assessment these days, as in the new three-part documentary series “Disco: Soundtrack of a Revolution” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings), a revisionist look that is heavily New York-centric and celebrates the marginalized communities who reveled in the sounds: women, gay, Black and Latino. A series of aging DJs from the era share the titles of fundamental tracks of the time in tonight’s initial episode and the story of “Rock the Boat” is told in full.
Another documentary for the Pride Week era looks at the history of queer standup comedy. “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution” (Netflix, streaming) features the work of Lily Tomlinson, Sandra Bernhard, Wanda Sykes, Eddie Izzard, Tig Notaro and Margaret Cho, among others.
The climbing skills of Sasha DiGiulian are celebrated on “Here to Climb” (HBO, 9 p.m.).
