Ted Danson reunites with “The Good Place” creator Mike Schur for his latest comedy. In “A Man on the Inside” (Netflix, streaming), he plays a retiree who agrees to work undercover in a senior living high-rise for a private investigator. There’s more jokes about quirky old people than is needed; the whole thing is awfully mild, though. 

The 1999 teen movie gets an update (and new cast) with Sarah Catherine Hook and Zac Burgess starring in “Cruel Intentions” (Prime Video, streaming). 

“Based on a True Story” (Peacock, streaming) the series starring Kaley Cuoco, Chris Messina and Tom Bateman about podcasters who join forces with a serial killer, returns for a second season.

Amid the onslaught of cable Christmas movies, there have been very few from broadcast network. But here’s one: “Nugget is Dead? A Christmas Story” (CBS, 8 p.m.), about an Australian family that unites over the holidays over the fate of a dog. 

Another international holiday story is found in “A Wesley South African Christmas” (BET+, streaming) with Terayle Hill, Darien Wilson, Jasmine Guy, Baby Cele and Kiki Haynes. 

Other Yuletide fare a week before Thanksgiving? “A Novel Noel” (Hallmark Mystery, 9 p.m.) 

“Law & Order” (NBC, 8 p.m.) investigate the shooting of a narcotics officer; “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (NBC, 9 p.m.) protects two women taken hostage in a standoff between police and a thief. 

A heat wave hits “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC, 10 p.m.).

“Doctor Odyssey” (ABC, 9 p.m.) deals with rubber duck week. 

A mother with mental illness is missing on “Found” (NBC, 10 p.m.). 

“The Real Housewives of Orange County” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) conclude their reunion episodes. 

Chefs have to finish others’ dishes on “Hell’s Kitchen” (Fox, 8 p.m.). 

“9-1-1” (ABC, 8 p.m.) responds to a big pipe explosion. 

Semifinals come to “Crime Scene Kitchen” (Fox, 9 p.m.). 

“The Match: Superstars” (TNT, truTV, 7:30 p.m.) has Michael Phelps and Mark Wahlberg against Nate Bargatze and Blake Griffin in a round of golf. Then at 9, it’s Charles Barkley and Ken Griffey Jr against Wayne Gretzky and Bill Murray.

There’s a comedy club redemption challenge on “House of Villains” (E!, 10 p.m.). 

“Jersey Shore Family Vacation” (MTV, 8 p.m.) heads back to Jersey. 

Bakers must replicate the Gringotts Wizarding Bank on “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking” (Food, 8 p.m.). 

“Christmas Cookie Challenge” (Food, 9 p.m.) is all about gingerbread. 

A Czech castle’s portal to hell is sought on “Destinations of the Damned with Zak Bagans” (Travel, 10 p.m.). 

“Mountain Men” (History, 9 p.m.) hit a cold snap. 

Turner Classic Movies’ showcase of English filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger concludes with “I Know Where I’m Going” (8 p.m.), “Black Narcissus” (9:45 p.m.), “Hour of Glory” (11:30 p.m.), “The Tales of Hoffman” (1:30 a.m.) and “The Lion Has Wings” (4 a.m.).
