“B Positive” (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) may be broadcast TV’s best new show of the fall, but only because nobody else showed up in time to make a series. This one, from the prolific team of Chuck Lorre and Marco Jennette concerns a therapist who needs a new kidney and runs into a wild-living woman he went to high school with to be his donor. What makes the sitcom stand out are all the comedy chops that Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”) and Annaleigh Ashford (“Masters of Sex”), who wring laughs out of every scene they’re in. That’s important when the writing is so flat (though the canned laughter may disagree). They’’re further aided by a strong supporting cast, with Sarah Rue, Kether Donahue and familiar comic faces at nearly every turn.

It joins the Thursday night CBS comedies that are all returning for new seasons. For its fourth season,  “Young Sheldon” (CBS, 8 p.m.) is already graduating from high school. On the eighth season premiere of “Mom” (CBS, 9 p.m.) returns for its eighth season minus Anna Faris.

Maisie Williams (Ayra Stark on “Game of Thrones”) stars in a new series “Two Weeks to Live” (HBO Max, streaming) about a young woman in Scotland who leaves home in hopes of avenging her father’s death, thinking there’s only a couple of weeks left to the world anyway. The dark comedy also stars Sian Clifford, the older sister on “Fleabag.”

America Ferrera bids farewell on the 100th episode of “Superstore” (NBC, 9 p.m.). The COVID-era comedy “Connected…” failed to connect; it’s been replaced by a rerun of “Superstore” at 8:30 p.m.
