Sometimes it feels like there’s only a few stories around and everybody’s got to do their own version of it. The scandal involving a famous male strip club that included sex and murder has already been told in Discovery’s four-part “Curse of the Chippendales” last year. Now it’s dramatized as well in the multipart “Welcome to Chippendales” (Hulu, streaming) in which Kumail Nanjiani stars as company founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee, leading a cast that also includes Murray Bartlett, Juliette Lewis, Dan Stevens, Annaleigh Ashford and Quentin Plair.
Morgan Freeman is narrator of the new six-part series “Our Universe” (Netflix, streaming) that looks at the interconnections of things big and small, from the beginning of time until now.
Cree musician and activist Buffy Sainte-Marie is profiled on a new “American Masters” (PBS, 9 p.m.) that recounts her long career, features a number of her performances, and interviews with its subject as well as Jackson Browne and Joni Mitchell, among others.
“Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” (HBO, 10 p.m.) has some FIFA World Cup-related coverage.
And in the World Cup games today, it’s Argentina vs. Saudi Arabia (Fox Sports 5 a.m.), Denmark vs. Tunisia (Fox Sports 1, 8 a.m.), Mexico vs. Poland (Fox, 11 a.m.) and France vs. Australia (Fox, 2 p.m.).
A finale finally finally comes for “Bachelor in Paradise” (ABC, 8 p.m.). Maybe.
