The fried, fast-food style takeover of cafeterias has been caused by profit considerations — not nutrition or health. That terrible food is offered says a lot about how a society thinks of its children — and its very future.

It’s all “NCIS” (CBS, 8 p.m.) all night, with the ninth season finale of the mother show followed by two hours of a finale to close the third season of the spin-off “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS, 9 p.m.).
There’s a two hour season finale for “Glee” (Fox, 8 p.m.) as well, combining both national competitions and graduation. With Sara Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson announced as show guest stars next season, the finale offers just Lindsay Lohan as a guest judge.
Incredibly, “Private Practice” (ABC, 10 p.m.) is returning for a new season following tonight’s finale.
A first season winner is also named tonight in the finale of “Fashion Star” (NBC, 10 p.m.). It’s between Ronnie Escalante, 32, of San Francisco and two New Yorkers, Kara Laricks, 38, and Nzimiro Oputa, 28. Because it’s done so well with its commercial tie-ins, the show will be back for a second season.
“Cougar Town” (ABC, 8 and 8:30 p.m.) won’t end its network life until the end of the month, but they are playing two new episodes tonight.
Rosie Pope returns for a second season as a “maternity concierge” on “Pregnant in Heels” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) where her excesses (and odd speech patterns) are exceeded only by those of her clueless clients.
They’re playing all five “Death Wish” (AMC, 8 p.m.) films this week on AMC. Stop now.
