Make no mistake, the Bruce Springsteen-produced half hour documentary about his new album, “Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes” (HBO, 9:30 p.m.) is intended to get more attention to his latest release. Even so, it’s interesting to hear him talk about it, and its songs from various periods that find a place on the collection, and particularly the involvement of former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, whose presence seems to have enlivened him.
It might not be the level of director Thom Zimny’s previous Springsteen work, about the making of “The Promise,” but maybe what we’re missing are full length performances.
It’s not the only good music on tonight. Broadway’s James Naughton sings the songs of Randy Newman on “Live from Lincoln Center” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings). It’s followed by “The Cleveland Orchestra in Performance: Bruckner Symphony No. 4” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings).
Capping a week that began with an overblown and ultimately botched series finale, the end of “Raising Hope” (Fox, 9 and 9:30 p.m.) is refreshingly without the weight of final goodbyes. In the tradition of all of television except for the past several years, it ends just the way it played, with amusing little stories and characters. The first features Lesley Nicol — Mrs. Patmore from “Downton Abbey.” But the second of the episodes does look back to the series start, when Hope was a baby and the addled grandparents sang Kenny Loggins to it to sleep. Loggins himself appears in the finale, as does Jeffrey Tambor.
It drops from the schedule so often (and was even officially canceled once, only to be revived) that you may have well forgotten about “Unforgettable” (CBS, 8 p.m.). But the procedural drama starring Poppy Montgomery about a woman with a great memory, returns.
The new “Showdown of the Unbeatables” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) sounds pretty pointless. Two things made to be indestructible are pitted against each other. In the premiere, a jackhammer vs. reinforced safe.
Guests on a new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) include Paul Watson, former Rep. Tom Davis, Carrie Sheffield, Alex agner and Nas.
A new “Vice” (HBO, 11 p.m.) looks at the resurgence of rhino poaching and the battle for a Kurdish state.
WHile grain pancakes are pitched on “Shark Tank” (ABC, 9 p.m.).
If “Soylent Green” (TCM, 3 a.m.) doesn’t let you know, the documentary “A Look at the World of ‘Soylent Green'” (TCM, 2:46 a.m.) will. (It’s people). They are part of a night of Charlton Heston, with “Ruby Gentry” (8 p.m.), “The Agony and the Ecstasy” (TCM, 9:30 p.m.), “55 Days at Peking” (TCM, midnight) and “Skyjacked” (TCM, 4:45 a.m.).
