Hoping to do for the noggin what “Cosmos” did for the stars, the six episode series “The Brain with Dr. David Eagleman” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) is off to a great start by dissecting reality itself, concluding it’s all in those three pounds of Jello-like material in your head. With some unusual examples about perception and our brain’s ability to mold it, it’s plain-talking and often fascinating that ought to improve the brain of entertained viewers.

A two hour documentary on the recent style summit, “Baring It All: Inside New York Fashion Week” (ABC Family, 9 p.m.) freshens up the network schedule a bit. It follows two episodes that wrap up the season of the sitcom “Young & Hungry” (ABC Family, 8 ad 8:30 p.m.).

“Jay Leno’s Garage” (CNBC, 10 p.m.) is a surprisingly enjoyable series about the comedian and former talk show host’s love of cars. In the series that started last week he’s relaxed, funny and seemingly happy about leaving the late night wars.

Hakeem album has leaked on “Empire” (Fox, 9 p.m.); now it’s time to make some money from it.

Scaring people is emphasized each October, so it’s a good time to premiere “True Nightmares” (ID, 10 p.m.), a series that spotlights true life murders that have become legendary, such as the farmhand’s rampage that is featured tonight.

It may be refreshing to find elephants who live to old age on “Nature” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

The second season of “Star Wars Rebels” (Disney XD, 9:30 p.m.) begins on a channel for kids, and in-too-deep fanboys.

The state of cyber warfare is explored on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).

Don’t mix up your regular “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.) with “Dual Survival” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) or its spinoff “Dual Survival: Untamed” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

Green Arrow tries to protect a mayoral candidate on “Arrow” (The CW, 8 p.m.).

Pam spins fire on a new episode of “Suddenly Royal” (TLC, 10 p.m.).

Too bad there’s no “Fashion Police” following big presidential debates. Instead, three episodes of “Dash Dolls” (E!, 8 p.m.).

They have to work 36 hour shifts in the hospital ER room on “Code Black” (CBS, 10 p.m.). Luckily the show is still only 42 minutes long.

Jimmy suspects Gretchen has someone on the side on a new “You’re the Worst” (FXX, 10:30 p.m.).

The family tries to fashion a new style father’s day called Daddy’s Day on “Blackish” (ABC, 9:30 p.m.).

When we say check out regarding “American Horror Story: Hotel” (FX, 10 p.m.) we mean: leave. But tonight, Naomi Campbell checks in.

In a case of identifying too much with your character, Hayden Panettiere has entered a clinic for postpartum depression, which her character Juliette on “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.) also suffers.

A couple of stars from Broadway’s hit “Hamilton,” Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs, guest star on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (NBC, 9 p.m.) about a police shooting of an unarmed black man.

“Nathan for You” doesn’t return until tomorrow, but another master of the deadpan and fooling ordinary people who I like is on “The Carbonaro Effect” (truTV, 10 p.m.). The new episode tonight is preceded by two hours of old ones.

The usually reliable Turner Classic Movies website is listing “A Clockwork Orange” (midnight) as a musical. Must be all that Ludwig Van. It comes as part of Robert Osborne’s monthly turn in picking movies. His other choices: “Leave Her to Heaven” (8 p.m.), “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” (10 p.m.), “Time After Time” (2:30 a.m.) and “Hands of the Ripper” (4:30 a.m.).

Both games in the American League divisional series have reached decisive game fives: Texas at Toronto (Fox Sports 1, 4 p.m.) and Houston at Kansas City (Fox Sports 1, 8 p.m.).

It’s game five in the WNBA Finals as well, with Indiana at Minnesota (ESPN2, 8 p.m.).

It’s Chicago at Philadelphia (NBC Sports Network, 8 p.m.) in hockey.

Preseason basketball has Charlotte vs. Clippers (NBA, 8 p.m.) and San Antonio at Atlanta (NBA, 8 p.m.).
