Friday TV: Lassiter Returns With Any ‘Luck’

John Lasseter’s first film since being forced out at Pixar is “Luck” (AppleTV+, streaming) a fast-moving animated feature about a previously unlucky girl who lands in the Land of Luck where she can turn it all around (or ruin everything for people there). The voice cast includes Simon Peg, Jane Fonda, Lil Red Howery and Whoopi Goldberg.

Another big movie premiering on TV today is “Prey” (Hulu, streaming) a prequel to “Predator” that goes back hundreds of years to a Comanche Nation warrior named Naru, played by Amber Midthunder.

Dianna Aaron plays a divorced mother who has to take care of her aging parents — played by Dustin Hoffman and Candice Bergen in the film “As They Made Us” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).

“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie” (Netflix, streaming) is the latest animated adventure in the series in which they face an alien invas

The new South Korean thriller “Carter” (Netflix, streaming) has a singular gimmick: It’s one scene, and one cut. It stars Joo Won as an amnesiac agent who must reclaim his identity and mission.

“LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation” (Disney+, streaming) is more a special than a feature, with the characters taking a star cruiser excursion. Weird Al Yankovic contributes a new song.

The Neil Gaiman comic gets a live-action series treatment in the new version of “The Sandman” (Netflix, streaming), with a cast that includes Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie and Charles Dance.
