What turned out to be practically a memoriam edition of Capital Radio began with salutes to David LaFlamme of It’s a Beautiful Day, who died Aug. 6 at 82, and Sixto Rodriguez, the mystery man behind the 2012 documentary “Searching for Sugar Man,” who lived to see how important his 1970s music was to another corner of the planet before he died last Tuesday at 81.

But the bulk of the show was devoted to Robbie Robertson, the ace songwriter and guitarist for The Band, who died Wednesday at 80. In addition to that group’s timeless music, we heard his early work with Ronnie Hawkins, John Hammond and especially Bob Dylan, in the studio and live on stage.

Robertson’s other contributions to music of his time came next, followed by work in recent years on movie soundtracks that had him working with Van Morrison and Derek Trucks.

After a brief set inspired by Margo Price’s recent show here, we celebrated the birthdays of Connie Smith (82), Terry Adams (75) and Slim Dunlap (72) in addition to David Crosby, both this day in 1941 but who died in January at 81.
