The 2024 Republican National Convention (CNN, C-SPAN, 2 p.m.) begins its four-day run in Milwaukee as scheduled, with a prelude nobody expected — Saturday’s shocking assassination attempt of its nominee. A delegate roll call begins this afternoon followed by the first night of speeches that will likely culminate at 10 p.m. with broadcast coverage by ABC, NBC and CBS. Cable news networks will begin coverage at 8 p.m. or earlier. 

Specific speakers today haven’t been named but speakers over the course of the event are to include several vice presidential possibilities including Sens. Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance, as well as House Speaker Mike Johnson, South Dakota Gov. Kristie Noem, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Also, all manner of family including Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle; and Eric Trump ad his wife Lara, head of the RNC will take part. Melania Trump, however, is not scheduled to speak. 

But also on the roster this week: Kanye West’s girlfriend Amber Rose and an Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White. Trump himself is set to speak Wednesday. 

It all tends to overshadow one of baseball’s most enjoyable nights, the Home Run Derby (ESPN, 8 p.m.) from Arlington, Texas, in advance of Tuesday’s All-Star Game. 

Cartels and party boats are the target of the agents on the new series “Contraband: Seized at Sea” (Discovery, 9 p.m.). 

“The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph” (Investigation Discovery, 9 p.m.) is a three-part true crime documentary about the man who married six times, with four of them dead of mysterious circumstances. All three episodes run tonight. 

“LALIGA: All Access” (Netflix, streaming) focuses on Spain’s popular soccer league’s 2023-24 season. 

The second half of the two-part wedding episode of “All American” (CW, 8 p.m.) ends its season. 

Alexa investigates the murder of a man at a coconut oil factory on “My Life is Murder” (BBC America, 10 p.m.).

“Holy Marvels with Dennis Quaid” (History, 10 p.m.) gets around to considering Stonehenge and Easter Island. 

The Salem witch trials are the subject of “History’s Greatest Mysteries” (History, 9 p.m.). 

“America Ninja Warrior” (NBC, 8 p.m.) wraps up its qualifying rounds in Los Angeles. 

Simone leads a voter registration drive on “All American: Homecoming” (CW, 9 p.m.).

The home improvement competition “Battle on the Beach” (HGTV, 9 p.m.) reaches its finale and crowns a winner. 

There are relationship problems on “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.).

“The Rise and Fall of the Maya” (Nat Geo Wild, 8 p.m.) finds a 3,000 year old monument in the first of three episodes. 

Turner Classic Movies’ month-long Monday night commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Hays Code brings some more pre-code classics paired with movies that came later, tonight: “Trouble in Paradise” (8 p.m.) and “The Lady Eve” (9:30 p.m.); “Red-Headed Woman” (11:15 p.m.) and “Stella Dallas” (12:45 a.m.) and “The Divorcee” (2:45 a.m.) with “The Gay Divorcee” (4:15 a.m.). 

During the day, TCM has films from 1954: “Brigadoon” (6:30 a.m.), “Dial M for Murder” (8:30 a.m.), “Executive Suite” (10:30 a.m.), “La Strada” (12:30 p.m.), “Salt of the Earth” (2:30 p.m.), “Gojira” (4:15 p.m.), and “The Last Time I Saw Paris” (6 p.m.).
